Continuous thickness measurement to prevent expensive plus-tolerances.
The pressing time is defined by the thickest section of a mat. Prevention of plus-tolerances enables to minimize the pressing time and to save raw material. Inaccuracies in board thickness require a thicker top layer to avoid a „sand through“ in the sanding line. This is a disadvantage because surface layer material is expensive. The automatic detection of plus-tolerances also helps to save material in the sanding line by an extended service life of the sanding belts and not least by reduced disposal cost for sanding dust.
With THICK-SCAN “M” (M = movable) it is possible to position the measuring heads anywhere across the board width. The thickness can thus be measured and controlled at specific locations.
