Fire and explosion are always hazards to be dealt with in the wood-processing industry. Sparks cannot always be avoided. These are ignition sources which, if ignored, might produce significant property loss and downtimes.
The critical areas are dust filters and silos. The danger zones in the wood-processing industry include dust exhaust and conveyor systems, dryers, mills and sanding machines. All these areas should be protected by SPARK-SCAN.
SPARK-SCAN uses highly-sensitive spark detectors. Upon detection of sparks a spark alarm unit responds immediately by triggering an extinguishing device. The system generates a fine water mist to extinguish the sparks.
Alarm thresholds can be set to trigger the required activities automatically. The modern spark alarm unit stores all events for later analysis.
