MT-SCAN measures the moisture content with multi-wavelength infrared light, which is targeted to, and reflected by, the material surface; the reflected beam is measured and analysed. In other words, a certain wavelength of infrared light is absorbed by water molecules, thus more or less weakened. The weakened signal is compared to the 100 %-signal. The resulting values indicate the moisture content.
Measuring can also be effected through glass. The moisture is monitored at different spots within the production process, which exhibits valuable information for the optimisation of the process.
